Brew one for me, too! This is an homage of sorts to Be Here Now by Ram Dass. I recall being in the the high school library during social studies when we were supposed to be researching some feature of American history, and instead I was spending my time reading Be Here Now. Suddenly, my teacher’s voice snapped from behind me, “Stop wasting your time and get on with your work!” With each passing year, his voice in my memory sounds more and more like the schoolteacher from Alan Parker’s film adaptation of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. (If you’d like to hear the voice in my head, go to this Youtube video at time marker 1:08 – 1:52.) Perhaps if my social studies teacher saw this strip, he would feel now that I hadn’t been wasting my time. Or, perhaps not. Have a cup of tea, Mr. Nelson, and chill.
