Researchers have found that elevated CO2 levels in the ocean interfere with the neurotransmitters of juvenile damselfish and hinder their ability to recognize predator fish in the water by smell or sight. The higher the CO2 concentrations, the greater the effect. The reckless fish stand a greater chance of being eaten by predators.
